Exterior not for me but a fan of the interior.

Not nearly as bad as the Juke.

Let's see here. Toyota gets crapped on for being bland. Now Toyota gets crapped on for trying to hard.

How about some people just wanna give Toyota crap.

This is what they should bring to NA along with an updated Corolla.

it really bugs me that Yaris HSD gets blue stitching on the steering wheel and other interior parts but Auris gets black and not only that - top end Auris has plastic e-brake handle while Yaris has leather with blue stitching.

and then supposedly Auris is "sporty"... they could have made HSD more agressive like Yaris HSD.

Any chance this would replace the Matrix in the US?

I can literally see someone in the office scratching off LEDs from head lights, saying "3 is enough! we have leather dash!"

It really bugs me that they tried to fit this new keen look to the front with Yaris and Avensis and then Auris comes out, which should be the proof the actually got idea what they need to do in Europe, and instead of going forward, they pull back - make pieces looking cheaper than Yaris. It makes no sense to me.

It is very typical Japanese - left hand has no clue what right hand is doing. Lexus does this so much better.

sure they dont look like Euro Civic ones - but would it really be that hard to make them as sophisticated as in their other two cars in Europe?

Euro Civic ones look like aftermarket glue-ons.

I wonder if this is due to Lexus btw - making sure not to be better than CT200h.

Post Not the Matrix

A replacement for the Toyota Matrix is indeed long overdue, but according to Automotive News, a successor to the Japanese automaker's tall hatchback won't be found in the new 2013 Auris hatchback.

Hiroya Fujita
, chief engineer of the Matrix and the Japanese-spec Corolla, says that Toyota has no plans to offer the Auris in the United States, citing that demand for hatchbacks in the U.S. is still too weak. (Or is it?) Automotive News reports that Fujita declined to comment on a replacement for the Matrix, which still rides on the old MC platform that has underpinned the last 3 generations of Corolla models.

A brand new Corolla is in the pipeline for the U.S., but with no certain future for the Matrix in sight, AN suggests that Toyota's larger 5-door may simply die.

Auris does not make sense for price standpoint in the USA - it is too expensive.
