Wheel and tire warranty
Just a question, if I'm driving on the highway and get a nail in my tire, which is now leaking. Would the tire be covered under the wheel and tire warranty?

Warning! This happened to me 3 weeks ago, 200 miles from home. I picked up a 3" self tapping metal screw in the shoulder/sidewall corner. Sunday at 2:00, I have to work Monday. Smaller town, the first tire shop didn't sell Bridgestone, referred me across the street. No Turanzas in 50 miles so I had to put a same size Potenza on. (My car had 1000 miles on it, new!) I wanted the matching Turanza but of course the only tire that the warranty will pay for is what replaced the ruined one, that's right, the Potenza. Potenza is $180. Turanza is $370. I had to eat the Turanza cost and I'm waiting for the check for the Potenza. I got burned by the circumstances but it was something I never thought about.

What are you looking to get covered? The cost to fix or a replacement tire? Fixing a tire in most cases costs about $10-15.

Moose, you're right, but in my case I had to pay for the Turanza ($375) because the warranty will only pay (and rightfully so) for the tire that replaced the damaged one. I just fell into an unusual black hole because the smaller town tire dealer didn't have the OEM tire and I had to get home...just the breaks.

I had a nail on my tread but close to my sidewall, but wasn't sure if it could be patched. I ended up taking it to the dealer and the tire had to be replaced. Warranty did work, though it took 4 hrs because the warranty company only insurances a labor rate of $20 per hour (dealer was $50) so the insurance company wanted me to pay the difference of $13 (they came up from 15). It's small but when you buy these warranties you would expect not to pay for anything, also you expect the dealer to advise you of the specific replacement details. Additionally most warranty companies will reimburse the dealer by the total amount, Safe Guard does it by the itemized details which means you stay at the dealer longer if your dealer needs to figure out how to meet all of Safe-Guard's price points. If you guys are offered a warranty with Safe-Guard, do not buy it, ask for another company. I swear I felt I was back at the Toyota/Nissan dealer waiting room because of the long wait, but at least the dealer felt bad I got a warranty with a crappy company and took things so I didn't have to pay a dime. The tire and labor would have been $344 if I didn't have a warranty at all.
