Default Rear Main Seal Leak(Possibly)

Just got an oil change done today and the tech said that i have an oil leak that is most likely coming from the rear main seal but wasn't 100% sure

It's a 98 GS300 with 91k

I had already noticed drops of oil in my parking spot for the last couple of months so I believe there really is a leak................Now my question is what would the price range be for this to fix from an independent shop and will not getting this fixed anytime soon(due to price) cause any further problems if it is indeed the rear main seal?

Thanks

Yup my is leaking too. It was already leaking when I bought the car at 94K miles. You can't possibly missed it. On either side, where the front portion of the Jack point, look straight in. My is just hanging around the front end of the tranny casing like a half tear drop. As for the labor cost, it is around $350 to $450 approx. and the seal is no more then $50.

Here is my question to you. Next time when driving the car after half an hour or longer and came to stop light, turn on the fan and make sure that you have the outside air circulation mode on. Do you smell any burning oil?

Order the seal from Sewell Lexus and save a few bucks. This is next on my maintenance list unfortunately

i think i have the same issue. Went to move my car since it stored in the winter, and i noticed oil stain on the floor but it was a little further back that it should be to be an engine leak. Might be the same issue. May take it to Lex for an oil change and tell them to check it out.

Could this leak be causing this issue with my car. As i drive off from a dead stop my RPMS go up and my car does move but the SPEEDO doesn't kick in right away as you can see in the video.

Could this seal leak have caused another issue. Because i know this can't be normal.
Like i said the car does move as soon as i hit the gas, but the speedo doesn't kick in until the RPM's hit almost almost 2000
What is this?

Are you guys sure it's not leaking from somewhere up top and flowing down?

Mine was originally leaking from near the vvti gears, so they replaced crank and came seals and valve gaskets. Now the leak is towards the back of the engine, near the bell housing. Dealership told me the gasket was leaking a little and would need to be addressed sooner than later. I assume that's where everyone in this thread is seeking the oil leak from
