Has anybody done manual brake bleeding on RX 330 successfully? Do I still have to put 1" x 4" piece of wood underneath the brake pedal to not let the pedal touch the floor when my assistant hold it down when I open the bleeder valve to avoid damaging the master cylinder? I have read a lot of articles about the need of putting the piece of wood, but some consider this practice unnecessary. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have been bleeding brakes for 25 years on everything from my 43 year old Corvette to my wife's Acura. Never heard of the need for a wook board. And, I have never had a problem with bleeding brakes either.

Hi,

You did a great job describing your brake pad replacement. I did mine about a year ago and now I'm having a soft and low brake pedal on my RX330. I saw that you posted the diagrams of the front and rear brake components. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you please email the pages to me so I can make sure all of the brake hardware is installed properly. My email is manhouse@optonline.net

Thanks

Do you need the front or the rear?

Hi Mandyfig,

When do you think you will be able to send the diagrams to me?

Thank you in advance.

RX350AWD
I have about 2-3mm left on the front brakes(they haven't made any noises yet though). Found out when I was bleeding the brakes. I emailed my Lexus dealer for parts and they quoted me $73.75 + tax for the front pads. Seems like it's really expensive, is this a good price? Would it be cheaper/better to get something from a local auto parts store?

p.s.: Can somebody give me a direct link to the front pads on Sewell? I searched on their site and about 20 results came up. They all look the same, which ones do I need?

EDIT: nvm, ordered them off Sewell for around $54(with a 15% discount)

My mechanic just advised me that my front brake pads are down to 4 mm and should be replaced. I checked out your explanation and pictures and found that I can do the work myself. Thanks for the clear explanation.

Just a note, brakes are safety related components, unless you think you are qualified to do it, please leave it up to the pros. Just a reminder that most of what you read in forums like these are for reference and it is at your risk that you follow them.

It is so straight forward, it's really hard to mess something up. The hardest part was just not gettting any grease on the brake pads/rotors since it started coming out when I was pushing them back in.

I need to replace rear brake pads on my RX330 and have a question. Are the caliper pistons a rotating type or pushing type like the fronts?
