Angry Lexus ES 350 oil change

I'm looking for Special Service Tool (SST) to remove the oil filter housing (ES 350 with 12,000 miles). I have used walmart stuff (cap style wrench). But for some reason it is on so tight. Where can I buy one?

Cool

I think one of the supporting vendors here sells them. Might want to try a search.....I think that has been asked not long ago.

Try one of the vendors like he said. Have you had your oil changed before, or is this the first one?

LOL--apparently I'm not the only one who's had trouble removing the housing w/ the Walmart cap wrench.

just use a standard socket wrench..... tighten up the drain plug... then torque it free so the whole unit comes out.. then use a bench clamp to hold the cap while you take out the drain plug...

You can get one through your lexus dealer. I can find the part number on mine tomorrow. I'm not sure on the price though.

try your local/chain auto part stores, they have oil filter sockets, autozone has them next to the oil filters

I've tried them all--well, at least the ones that can be had at your neighborhood Autozone/Kragens/Pep Boys--it's either because none of them work or else the filter housing is super-torqued on there.

The one that fits the ES350 housing also fits on an 07 corolla filter, if your having slippage, try a towel between the 2, also I found a longer extension allows for better leverage then a smaller extension

Default Which oil and filter

My dealer states to use Penzoil Synthetic 5W-30 oil for my next oil change at 10K. What oil filter should I use? I plan on purchasing that Service Tool in a week or so. I have used to many wrenches that don't work on other cars and I am done with it. I'll just buy the thing and be done with it. I haven't changed the oil yet in this car but am not wanting to pay the $40 my dealer is wanting to charge. Not to mention the $25 for the tire rotation. Any feedback on the filter is appreciated.

My garage guy just gets the Toyota oil filter "insides" and replaces it.

The oil change is easy. You don't even have to lift the car.

Toyota/Lexus filters are the only way to go, quality-wise. I always buy mine from the local Toyota dealer. The part # is 04152-YZZA1.

I've purchased the air filters (cabin & engine) from there too.
