So I have a IS350 and last night I happened to be driving with my audio off and noticed my car making some weird wheezing, high pitched sound when hitting the 3000 RPM mark and higher if I go higher . Is this normal for this car? My friend has a 250 and I dont hear it on his car. Does anyone know what sound I'm talking about? And while idle, my car sounds like the engine is struggling. I've always just ignored it thinking it was normal, but my friends car just makes a smooth sound.

strange. does it sound like a rattle? take it to your dealer, they might be able to find something out.

No, not a rattle, well...while idle, the engine does seem like a quiet rattle but not really. I just dont want to take it to the dealer unless I really have to.

i think it's normal. sounds like whistling right? it's just engine, and remember the engine makes other strange noise during idle like a train, hard to describe. it's the direct fuel injection.

hrm I just reset my ECU pulling fuses, and now I hear somewhat what you hear when accelerating. Sound a bit like a spooling turbo and putters quietly when idle. I'm sure it's the engine but normal? I didn't hear that before I reset the ECU. Drive much smoother from a stop to accelerating though =)

The "Supercharger Whine" is normal at high RPMs. Especially if you are holding in 1st gear. I have driven my car past people while in 1st and they thought I was boosted.

its not that loud in 250's but alot more noticeable on the 350's

In just little my opinion, it might be the sound of timing belt.

Many people said "One of the negative condition of Is350 is engine sound, the engine

sound is quite loud, but because of interial cover, it could be covered.
