Default quick cheap easy 6.5 rear speakers sc300

Ok I am new around here having recently gotten my sisters 95 sc300 she bought new and drove for 142k before she couldn't afford to do the timing belt, vc gaskets, rear wheel bearing, rear brakes, struts etc - anyway you get the picture - she is now driviing a 1995 thunderbird i put an engine in and I have the Lexus!

Got most of the mech sorted out and tried to do a quick fix on the rear speakers yesterday.

Pulled the rear seat and rear deck ( covered elsewhere extensively) to test rear speakers + Blown but looking at the mounting hole I think a 6.5 will go there so I run to wallly world and pic up a $30 set of pioneers 6.5 two ways ( i plan to go with a complete upgrade later but for right now I needed to get some tunes in this car)
and they will drop right in - use the original 10 mm bolts for mounting, some slightly oversizer washer to grab the edge of the speakers and as for wiring I cut the harness off of the oem units and spliced to the wiring in the speaker kit and plugged them back in and it is good to go. (Wires with the strip on them are +) Entire job about 2.5 hrs including the trip to wal mart.

May have been done before but I wanted to share this economical and quick fix for blown rear speakers and the little discount pioneers don't sound half bad! Any other 6.5 would also likely work.

Should have taken pics but was in a hurry.

Now about that damn antenna and the squeeking rear bushings and the struts .....

6.5's will require opening up the mounting hole somewhat. The cage of a 6.5 wont fit and if a baffle is made to seat the driver up higher it will interfere with the deck lid cover. Just make some small slices into the radius of the original opening and bend all the small tabs down. Then the 6.5 will drop right in.
