Anybody know where to get 0-20w dino oil?

I went to Pep Boys today to look for it and I only found it in Mobil 1 synthectic. I asked my dealer at the 1000 mile check up and they said they use Castrol 5w-20 synthectic Blend oil. I don't want to use that. I didn't find any blend oil on Castrol's website.
So I guess I'm going to use the Mobil 1 brand and pay for it on my so called free oil change at 5000 miles. At least it's only $6.99 at Pep Boys.

That is completely unacceptable. 0-20W is only available in synthetic. Below is what the owner's manual states. You should contact the Service Manager and complain. I guess it is a warning to all of us to have them verify that they will use synthetic 0-20W at your next oil change.

SAE 0W-20 is the best choice for
good fuel economy and good
starting in cold weather.
If SAE 0W-20 is not available,
SAE 5W-20 oil may be used.
However, it must be replaced with
SAE 0W-20 at the next oil
change.

I agree, that's not accetable. The manual clearly states 0-20W.

I did verify with my dealer during the 5k service that they had the correct oil. He said so many of the new models used it they considered it the primary stock in their drums. Lexus has pretty much gone to the low friction engines that require it.

The stupid computer in my dealer used to write "5W-20" on the report. I didn't believe this answer until they showed me the proof of this.

I'm glad to see they finally upgraded their system and are able to type "0W-20" on the report.

Go to walmart you can get a jug of Mobil 1 for only $26 at any viscosity. I use the 0-30 but they do also have 0-20.

I recently had my 5k check done. It was a "freebie" so no $$ amounts were listed, but they did list 7 quarts of 0W20 oil. Didn't know a car took that much oil !!

I've noticed that the 350 takes much more than the 330/400h. Mine only takes a bit less than 5 litres. Believe me, more is better.

Get this...at my 5,000 mile service I looked at the service ticket and it said "Mobil 1 Non-Synthetic 5W30". I asked them about it because the car (2010 RX350) is supposed to take 0W-20 synthetic. The response was "We are so sorry...we put the wrong oil in your vehicle". So they drained/re-filled it and the Service Manager told me that my next service (10K) would be complimentary.

I wonder if that was what had happened during my 5k service. i used to average 19-20mpg but after the service, I am averaging 16-17mpg. i know cold weather can reduce the mpg but reduction of 3mpg seems too much variation.

Beginning last year Toyota dealers started using their own branded 0W-20 oil, full-synthetic, for Prius and Highlander Hybrids calling for that weight. According to the major blog site for engine oil analysis, early tests of this oil show an unusually high amount of moly to reduce friction - helpful for both cold start-ups and repeated shutdown/start-up cycles used by hybrids.

Anyway, I checked with my local Toyota dealer and they will sell 12-quart cases of this oil for $88 with sales tax...so the 7 quarts I'd need for the RX450h would be $51...plus $7for the Lexus RX450h filter element (online purchase)...plus $20 to the local place I trust to get under there, git-r-dun, and dispose of the old oil. $78 vs. the dealer's $110 - and they're using Kendal GT 0w-20 full synth which sells at Pep Boys for approximately $5.41/quart with tax. Unless further oil analysis tests prove the Toyota 0W-20 fails in some way, I feel more confident using their hybrid-recommended house oil and my own guy changing it. Always had good luck with Mobil 1 full syn in the recommended grade as well so that would be my second choice.

Finally, something cheaper in Canada than the U.S. I picked up a case of 12 at my local Toyota dealer for around $50 CDN. Been running it in my 400h this winter with no trouble. I may grab another case (the parts guy is quickly becoming my best friend) at that price and use it in my Mom's Honda Accord as well.

There's also a version of Toyota oil at dealers that's not full syn - I forget if its a syn blend or pure dino stock. So check the label; $50 CDN is a heckuva good buy for a case if its full syn 0W-20.

I went through this with the dealership before I bought the case (this is why the parts guy is now my friend - we had many meaningful conversations about this oil). He showed me a four page internal Toyota memo confirming that the 0w20 oil is a synthetic, despite the fact that the bottle is not labelled as such. Also, the general consensus is that it's not possible to make a 0w20 in dino.

There's a current eBay listing for the full-syn Toyota 0W-20 Oil - $60 for the case is great but $35.50 for shipping isn't...
