At this stage, our barge is hitting 24-25 all highway. Typical average is about 21 with a short mix of city driving. Wish ours had a bit longer legged gearing like the 98+ have.

I've gotten 28-29mpg all highway on '95 and '96 LS400s, the key really is to drive slowly - like 55-60mph.
Of course, I get sick of that crap an hour into it and throw it up to 74mph and end up getting the 25mpg you mention.

This last weekend I took my 98 LS with 158K miles to Michigan and back. Took 5 tanks of gas and mileage was:
29.1
29.2
27.2(included city driving while in Michigan)
32.0(wow)
28.9

The 32.0 tank was Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee. 605 miles on one tank omg I didn't have to refuel until the second exit in Georgia. That's impressive.

I'D JUST CHANGED MY ROTORS/DISTRIBUTOR CAPS AND FOUND ONE OF THE ROTORS CRACKED.I PUT IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS AND THE AIR INTAKE FILTER HAS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITON ALWAYS. THE CAR DIDN'T HAVE NO PROBLEMS IN MISFIRING OR SPUTTERING. BUT THE MILEAGE IS IN THE 13.0 TO 14.8MPG'S IN THE CITY, NO HWY YET. I JUST FILLED THE TANK TO SEE IF IT IMPROVED, OH BY THE WAY IS A LS400 1990 WITH 85,000 MILES, INCREDIBLE BUT THAT LOW IN MILEAGE THE ROTOR WAS CRACKED. GOOD LUCK

Your engine runs suboptimal at anything less so I hope so. I usually go for Shell, Chevron, or Sunoco 93. I think all the changes they made between 95-97 greatly improved gas mileage. My 98 gets better mileage than my 95 Camry V6 XLE did (around 29-30mpg). Advantage to the Camry for doing it on 87 octane. The Camry went 278,000 miles before I reluctantly sold her ...still running great. I expect the Lexus to do the same or more.

Do a "gas milage" or "mpg" search. Lots of threads where people have posted what they get.

Here's one recent example:
