Default Anyone ever use header wrap on the spark plug wires ?

I just did my valve cover gasket on my GS which has 100K+ . All my spark plug wire tubings were all shriveled up from the heat. What a bad design to put the wires there with no major vents

I replace all the corrogated tubing and rewrap it with new electrical tape. But I'm still not satisfied. My co worker recommend me to get header wrap. Has anyone done this before ? It can withstands 2000 degrees

Which GS? Do you have a pic of your engine bay? The wrap is meant for exhaust parts, not allowing heat to radiate thru..So to answer ur question NO i have never seen it done.
BTW at 100k, radiating heat over the years from your engine parts including the exhaust will cause ALL wiring to become frail. when was the last time you replaced your SP wires before this 100K makeover?

98 GS300.

Well that was the whole point, not to let heat cook the wires. And besides, it didn't cook the wires, it cook the corrogated tubing around it. That what is was for, protection. So my point was putting better protection for the wires.

I would put a new set of wires, IF it has failed. But so far, I'm still getting good spark. No misfires, no check engine light, so why change it ?

You must be talking about the wire harness that is warped in loom...
I'm with you now.

I remember, on the wife's GS300, when the connectors to the coil packs fell apart when I went to disconnect them. They were very brittle and very much heat stressed.
New pig tails, high quality automotive loom and high quality 3M vinyl tape solved the issue.

Find yourself some good automotive wire harness loom and get some 3M tape rated for high temps, not header wrap.

good luck, hope this helps...
