Lexus IS250/350 High Mileage 100K+ Maintenance Info
As many of us are soon to approach the 100K mile mark on our Second Generation IS's, I wanted to ask owners that are past that mark to post up a sum of their experiences and maintenance information.
Mostly if anything major failed or needed replacing due to premature wear.
Another concern is 100K+ IS250's, the reason being several techs have noted that these cars have excessive carbon build up that should be addressed every 30k or so by manually cleaning the valves. One tech noted on an online reply that he had rebuilt several IS250 engines and replaced failed transmissions between 120-130k miles. That's a very high concern especially with the carbon issues us IS250 owners are having.
I want to add that please do not turn this into an IS250 carbon build up discussion, there's a thread for that. Please keep to the topic, just user experiences and information on high mileage Second Gen IS's.

Well in the worse case I would think they only have to take out the head only and rebuild it, to get it to perform like new.
at 100k the rings and bearings on the shortblock should still be good.
People go to dealership to get new engines and transmissions but there are usually many reasons for it, usually out of the norm..
I believe you but just my thought... despite all the little things the 2IS, usually toyota does a good job on things that spin. Except maybe the valve being coked up that needs cleaning.

I'd be surprise even if they do not change the ATF at all, the transmission are failing left and right at 120-130k miles. Usually those cars with well known transmission failure happen with a pretty wide spread of range, say, from 50k miles to 150k miles, and a car that came out at 2006 will probably have a lot of these cases already if it is a design error (i.e. Acura TL, Honda Accord V6, early Ford Taurus, VW Jetta, all all those European luxury brands).
You'll always see a couple odd cases here and there in all brands and model.
