Yup. No leaks here. I have to top off occasionally as well.

I had my oil changed at the stealer last Friday. No mention of a leaking water pump, I will check it today.

And another 08 water pump bites the dust. I mentioned a small amount of coolant loss to my service advisor and sure enough, the tech found that it was leaking.

Good news... it's covered under my platinum extended warranty.

Bad news... I got an IS250 as a loaner.

Well, I got my car in March, just did my first oil change and what do I find?
Looks like another 2008 (66K kms) water pump bites the dust. Thanks to lobuxracer and 9aristo for posting some good replacement info, I'll definitely be doing this myself

yup mine leaked from the same spot. Very easy to do, took me 3-4 hours (being extra careful and paranoid as I baby the damn thing). After install, I checked for the next two days for leaks, so far so good (the gasket never looked trustworthy to me haha).

Good to know. One more question, what's space like? i.e. is it easy to get a torque wrench in there for the final torquing of the bolts holding the water pump? I'm a bit OCD when it comes to torque specs. Thanks again.

i had an extension and had no issues. I'd say if your extension + socket is less than 4 inches, you're good

The front of the engine is pretty easy to work on. When I did the tensioner, I didn't need anything exotic unless you consider a 6mm hex on a socket exotic.

add another in, 08 with 54k and just got the car. I took it to lexus dealer for inspection, and they found water pump leak and replace it under warranty.

And another 08 with 40k. PPE discovered while installing my headers. It looks like it has not leaked for a while but there is pink residue below the water pump.

The dreaded water pump leak rears it's ugly head again and rather inconveniently immediately after the warranty expires on my 08 42k IS-F.

I feel like mine should be leaking too but I haven't seen any evidence. It's an 08 with 70k on it. I had the front bumper off about a month ago to change the headlights, and I did the spark plugs about a week after that and both times I inspected and couldn't find anything.

Why hasn't there been a recall on this with so many being affected?

Because not all of them fail, and not enough of them have failed with catastrophic results.

Shiny new water pump. I was amazed at how straightforward and easy the replacement procedure was. I found the hardest part was torquing the bolts for the pulley when putting it back on.Thanks again to lobuxracer and 9aristo for the very useful info they posted.
