2002 AWD 195,000 miles

Need to replace my timing belt for the second time. I did not replace the idler pulley / tensioner or water pump the first time. What have other readers experiences been?? Do I replace the pulley / tensioner and water pump this time?? Can't see keeping this vehicle much longer; maybe another 50,000 miles at best. Part of me says if it's not broken, don't fixit but I think I'd be pushing my luck.

This question usually comes about on the first timing belt change where the response is mixed (but usually your "if it aint broke, don't fix it" response). At 200,000 miles, though, I'd be inclined to replace them while everything is torn apart.

Thanks for the replys. Any suggestions as to brands? Auto parts warehouse sells a Dayco kit that includes belt, water pump, idler pulley, tensioner, and adjuster for $265.

I would stick with OEM and my second choice will be at-least OES.

OE is so bullet proof, it would be hard to justify anything else in such crucial parts. IMO

Some parts are listed as OE replacement. Is that sufficient or am I looking for the exact phrase "OEM"??

OE replacement means exactly what it says ,,, the part would fit (read substitute).

OEM will come in Lexus or Toyota packing

When I states OES ... I actually wanted to say things made by the same manufacturer but not packaged for Toyota/Lexus. If Aesin (sp?) comes to mind for waterpump.

Just buy from CL sponsor and insist on OEM.
