Default Latest Recall: Engine Misfire 2006-certain 2010 IS250/IS250C

So did anyone else receive the latest misfire recall? I just got it in the mail yesterday giving the symptoms of intermittently runs rough after coming to a stop or intermittently runs rough on a cold start up? I had this problem happen to me, and after three trips to the dealership they finally said it was bad coil packs and then charged me $250 to change the spark plugs cause i was close to my 60K service.....wonder if I could get that money back?

The letter doesn't speak to what they are going to do to rectify the issue, but it does say they will have the car for 4 days. The second part of the letter says that if you paid for the repair including pistons, piston rings, valve springs, valve spring retainers, valve lash adjusters and/or top engine cleaner to address the condition described, to email receipts to Toyota.

Sounds to me they they are finally looking into the issues that they keep blaming on spark plugs and everything else under the sun.

I didn't get a letter.... I doubt they will want to give you your money back but worth a shot.

Does it state what VIN numbers were affected?
If this is true I hope I could find my receipt for the top engine cleaning on my 350.

I kind of figured I wouldn't get the money back, but figured it may be worth a shot.

The letter only references the 2006 GS300 and 2006 IS 250's thru certain 2010 IS250's.

If there is a recall for an issue you've paid to have repaired, you absolutely can get that money back.

^^ Yeah check my thread that is linked above. It's not a recall though, its a CSP. It extends the coverage for carbon build up issues to 9yrs/unlimited miles. So if you are actually having the issue, it will be covered. If you have already paid for related repairs, you should be able to get reimbursed provided you kept the paper work, call up corporate.

Default Is this related to Fuel efficiency?

guys

My car is back from the dealership and they were able to replicate the problem but I have to wait a month till the parts get in. I have been having really bad fuel efficiency last year - only about 16 on the hwy. Do you think this may be related to the engine misfire problem? Did anybody get increased mileage after it was fixed?

Thanks

I never had an issue with MPG going down when I had bad carbon build up issues. I was still getting 30-33mpg highway commuting. 16mpg hwy sounds terrible, probably something else wrong if that's really what you are getting.

Yeah I've had terrible fuel mileage as well. I also noticed a new sound coming from the engine when I accelerate and also when my car is idle. It sounds like a clank clank clank...constant noise. Just wondering if you are hearing the same thing. I took it to 2 dealerships and said there is nothing wrong. I've had my IS for 3 1/2 years now and know what my car should sound like. I think they know they messed up and don't want to pick up the bill again.

Hey i have the same problem and dealer said mine is not covered with the recall. Thus, they told me to get my top engine cleaned and spark plugs replaced. Did you ever find out where we can see the actual vin's that are included? Thank you
