Default Disguised car spotted on the 210 in Pasadena...

But of course, by the time I could get my phone out, traffic split speeds and I couldn't catch up.
Now it's driving me crazy what I may have seen. It looked a shade smaller than an Accord or Altima, four-doors, quite low to the ground, more vertical taillights, and pretty slick styling from what I could tell underneath the bras. Plates were Michigan. Is Lincoln coming up with a smaller sedan? It kind of had a Ford-Lincoln look to it. And any manufacturers in the Pasadena area? It was going east on the 210 at Allen.

Lincoln needs a smaller car under the MKZ which is midsize. Would be nice to see them tackle TSX, Regal, S60 etc..

Cadillac has been pondering a new sub-ATS sedan...that's a possibility, especially since you mention vertical taillights. Might be a prototype.

Haven't heard that rumormill yet. So they're going after the ILX, Verano market?

Not a whole lot currently published about it....I did find one or two articles, though. Sometimes, though, companies do a prototype even if it never goes into production. I do agree, though, that Cadillac may need a non-sporting compact in its future...the ATS is simply too sporting for many of Cadillac's traditional buyers. If it downsizes too much, though (as you note), that could affect Verano sales, though the Verano has an excellent price for what you get that Cadillac probably couldn't match.

The ILX is nowhere near this league...it is simply too noisy, although the ATS I reviewed also had somewhat more road noise than I expected.
