Hi everyone.

I bought a fully loaded 2012 IS350 AWD brand new back in 2011.Still have another 2 years
on the factory warranty.

At the time, I don't remember there being a "Platinum" extended warranty option. Just the normal ECP that didn't cover all the expensive gadgets like navigation and the Mark Levinson audio. So I didn't both getting the ECP.

I just noticed that now there is a "Gold" and "Platinum" extended warranty with the Platinum covering all the gadgets the Gold doesn't. This may change my plans from trading the car in at 4 years to keeping it for 8 and getting the 96 month Platinum warranty.

Questions:

1) Am I correct these platinum warranties are about 2x as expensive as the ones in the US ?
Right now, the 96 month/120,000 km is about $3800 CDN on Lexus.ca.

2) Is it true you can't buy a US warranty for a car that was bound for Canada ?

3) Do dealers hagle on the price of this in Canada ? Anyone recommend someone with a cheaper price ? What should I be looking to pay ?

4) Any 3rd party warranties I should look at ? (considering I would want coverage for all the electronic goodies).

There is a mark up on the prices of all extended warranties. I'm not sure how much exactly how much they would negotiate for you but at least $300-$500 should be doable on a warranty of that cost. Good luck!

So ECP price is higher in Canada than US ?

Don't buy Warranty thru the dealer. Too much commission added in.
Brand new 2015 RX450h warranty to 125k miles cost me $900 Platinum warranty thru my bank. The hybrid has so many sensors this will probably be a good idea in the end.

OP lives in Canada. As far as I know no Canadian bank sells car warranties.
