Default Cruise-Control Failing …

For some reason, my cruise control has stopped operating normally.
I use it quite a bit, as I do a lot of driving on the HWY, but recently one of two things is happening:

1. I'll be in cruise control, and hit a bump in the road, and suddenly it deactivates.
The green "cruise" light stays on, but the action itself doesn't; it's i'll just decelerate like normal driving w/ your foot off the pedal.

2. Sometimes it just isn't cruising.

Regarding #2, a guy backed into me a while ago, and though there wasn't any body-damage, he must've jolted my transmission out of place, 'cus whenever I put it in park, I have to push the shifter forward a little more than usual, so it's securely in P. I have to make sure it "clicks" it into place, so I can remove the key. That said, when Im in D the gear-indicator light on the dash blinks, as if it's off-on, off-on, off-on, like it's loose, let's say; as if its not exactly in the right spot (the shifter).

Any ideas?

Check you transmission mount to see if it got damaged when you got hit. Also check the plug/cable connection to the cruise control unit in the engine bay.

Actually SupraDr looked at it, and said the transmission mount needs to be replaced, 'cus it's cracked thru.
Is that the problem?
What exactly is happening?
